Legal Practice Assistant—Trust & Estate Litigation

Stokes Lawrence is seeking an experienced litigation practice assistant to support the trust & estate litigation practice group in our Seattle office. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and meaningful litigation matters in a collaborative and client‑focused environment.

About the Team

Our trust & estate litigation group facilitates the successful resolution of complex trust and estate disputes. Our experienced attorneys focus on what’s best for our clients, whether that is an early settlement, a full trial on the merits, or everything in between, while also seeking to reduce the emotional toll of litigation. We represent a broad range of clients, including individuals who have lost a family member and are facing complexities in transferring wealth, personal representatives, trustees, and beneficiaries. We have experience representing high-net-worth individuals as well as ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, highly organized legal practice assistant who brings strong judgment, exemplary client service, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. In this role, you will work directly with a dynamic team of litigation attorneys and paralegals and play a key part in supporting all phases of litigation. What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of litigation legal assistant experience
  • Experience supporting multi-attorney teams (trust & estate litigation a plus)
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures
  • Experience with state and federal e‑filing and service of pleadings in multiple jurisdictions
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, document management systems, and e‑filing platforms
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • A collaborative working style and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, format, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, and court filings under strict deadlines
  • E‑file in state, federal, and appellate courts
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and colleagues
  • Perform conflict checks, open new matters, and prepare engagement letters
  • Maintain and track case deadlines, including calendaring and docketing
  • Manage attorney schedules, coordinate meetings, and arrange travel
  • Organize and maintain electronic client files within the firm’s document management system
  • Review and edit timekeeper billing entries
  • Organize and prioritize daily workload and provide overflow support to the broader litigation team

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 – $100,000. Compensation for this position will be determined based on the individual’s experience and qualifications.
