Overview

Across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, Brett MacIntyre advises clients on a broad range of aviation-related claims and insurance issues.

Brett’s practice includes assisting commercial airlines, helicopter and floatplane operators, Part 91 and Part 135 operators, municipalities, and airport authorities in navigating complex disputes, including civil litigation and regulatory matters. His experience includes resolving passenger claims involving in-flight injuries, discrimination, and accommodation issues, as well as other tort claims arising from operations above and below the wing, and defending aircraft and helicopter operators and owners after accidents. Brett regularly litigates matters involving federal preemption issues, the Airline Deregulation Act, Air Carrier Access Act, Montreal Convention, and federal aviation regulations.

In addition to his aviation work, Brett works closely with small businesses and individuals to resolve contract disputes and implement practical business risk management. He also represents clients in litigating insurance coverage for liability, property damage, business interruption, and insurance bad faith. He also defends product manufacturers against design defects, manufacturing defects, and other product liability claims.

Prior to going into private practice, Brett served two and a half years as an Assistant Attorney General at the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, representing the State of Washington in trial and appellate proceedings involving the welfare of abused and neglected children.
