Stokes Lawrence Shareholder Mathew Harrington Recognized by Benchmark Litigation

Stokes Lawrence, P.S., is pleased to announce that shareholder Mathew (Mat) Harrington has been selected for inclusion in Benchmark Litigation as one of 51 “Litigation Stars” in Washington State.

Benchmark Litigation is a leading guide that recognizes the top litigation attorneys and firms in the United States. Benchmark Litigation identifies preeminent litigators through extensive interviews with clients, peers, and industry researchers, as well as analysis of the most significant litigation matters across the country.

Mat, a seasoned trial lawyer with more than two decades of experience, has taken more than 20 cases to verdict or arbitration as lead or co-lead counsel. His litigation practice spans employment disputes, trust & estate litigation, class actions, fiduciary duty matters, antitrust issues, and complex commercial cases. He has represented clients in venues ranging from local courthouses to the U.S. Supreme Court, where he served as counsel of record in Washington State Department of Licensing v. Cougar Den, a landmark decision affirming treaty-based rights under the Treaty of 1855.

Beyond his commercial litigation work, Mat has demonstrated a strong commitment to public interest advocacy. In 2019, he argued before the Washington Supreme Court in a case that led to improvements in the quality of public defense services for indigent juveniles across the state.

“Mat’s recognition by Benchmark Litigation reflects not only his exceptional courtroom skill but also his unwavering commitment to our clients’ most high‑stakes challenges,” said Theresa Wang, firmwide managing shareholder. “His record of success and his integrity as an advocate exemplify the qualities we value at our firm.”

Mat earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. from St. Olaf College.
