Stokes Lawrence Velikanje Moore & Shore (SLVMS) is proud to announce that Jaime Cuevas, Jr., shareholder in the firm’s Business and Native American Law Groups, has been recognized as a 2026 Yakima Herald‑Republic “39 Under 39” honoree, celebrating young professionals whose leadership and impact are shaping the future of the Yakima Valley.
Jr. is an accomplished attorney and dedicated community leader whose work reflects a deep commitment to uplifting underserved communities. As a shareholder at SLVMS, he advises privately held companies, multi‑generational families, and agribusiness clients, while partnering extensively with American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments on matters involving tribal sovereignty, economic development, trade, and federal Indian law and policy.
In addition to his legal accomplishments, Jr. is a dedicated community advocate deeply rooted in the Yakima Valley. He is actively involved in expanding opportunities for youth and families, serving on the YMCA–Yakima Board of Directors and coaching grassroots soccer at Sozo Sports Academy. Jr. is a consistent presence in local mentorship and leadership‑development efforts, supporting emerging professionals and strengthening community networks.
He also serves on various firm and legal committees, including cochairing the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and AI committees, further reflecting his commitment to advancing both the profession and the region he calls home. Whether mentoring future leaders or supporting local initiatives, Jr.’s community impact is far‑reaching and continues to grow.

Jr. holds a J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and an LL.M. in Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
