Stokes Lawrence Welcomes Associate Seth Dawson to Its Premier Trust & Estate Litigation Team
Related Practice: Trust & Estate Litigation
We are pleased to welcome Seth Dawson (they/them) to its Seattle office as an associate attorney. Seth brings a dynamic and growing practice focused on trust and estate litigation, complex civil litigation, and appellate advocacy.
Seth has successfully represented clients in Washington state and federal courts and administrative hearings, securing favorable outcomes through persuasive oral advocacy, strategic motions practice, and reasonable settlement negotiations. They are passionate about helping clients navigate complex legal issues with clarity and purpose.
Before joining Stokes Lawrence, Seth built a diverse practice representing public and private entities in matters involving civil rights, consumer protection, environmental regulation, and municipal law. Their commitment to public service and deep understanding of governmental processes further enriches their work in private practice.
Seth began their legal career as a law clerk to Chief Justice Debra L. Stephens of the Washington State Supreme Court from 2019 to 2022. In this role, they played a key part in helping Washington courts adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, co-authoring emergency court rules in collaboration with the Chief Justice and judges statewide. During law school, they also externed for Judge Morgan Christen on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Before attending law school, Seth served as a Senior Legislative Assistant in the Washington, D.C., office of Congressman Denny Heck (WA-10), where they managed a broad legislative portfolio that included civil rights, education, environmental policy, tribal treaty rights, and science and technology issues.
"We are thrilled to have Seth join our trust and estate litigation team," said Karolyn Hicks, practice team leader at Stokes Lawrence. "Their depth of experience across courtrooms and policy arenas alike makes them a powerful advocate for our clients."
Seth earned their J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 2019 and their B.A. in politics and philosophy from Whitman College in 2012.
