Stokes Lawrence Velikanje Moore & Shore is pleased to welcome Corey Krzan Matta as the newest member of our litigation team. Corey brings a wealth of experience in military law, government service, and nonprofit leadership, offering clients a unique perspective on complex legal matters.

Before joining Stokes Lawrence, Corey served as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Field Office, where he advised on procurement, litigation, and general law matters related to the $2.8 billion annual cleanup mission at the Hanford site—one of the largest environmental remediation projects in the U.S.

Corey’s background also includes extensive experience in military law. As a member of the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, he served in a variety of legal roles, including as defense counsel for the Military Commissions Defense Organization at Guantanamo Bay. There, he led the legal team for physical evidence, overseas raids, and international humanitarian law portfolios in the high-profile 9/11 military commissions case. Corey has also prosecuted criminal cases, advised service members on legal matters, and provided counsel on discipline, ethics, and administrative proceedings.

"We are excited to welcome Corey to our litigation team," said Theresa Wang, firmwide managing shareholder. "His diverse experience in government, military, and litigation matters will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our firm."

Corey earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as president of the Military Law Society.
