Stokes Lawrence welcomes three attorneys to the firm’s Trust and Estate Group. The addition of Ann Wilson, Kiran Uppal and Kristen Fisher will deepen the bench of Stokes Lawrence’s legal team, offering it the ability to enhance its exceptional client service and broaden its capabilities for our Trust and Estate clients.
“Our Trust and Estate team provides outstanding advice and representation to our clients seeking help with planning or navigating disputes,” says Managing Shareholder Kelly Twiss Noonan. “Ann, Kiran and Kristen provide further depth and experience to an already strong group. We are delighted to welcome them to the firm.”
Stokes Lawrence welcomes Ann T. Wilson to the firm as a shareholder. She joins the firm’s Trust and Estate Litigation Group where she will represent clients in will and trust contests and actions under Washington’s Trust and Estate Dispute Resolution Act.
Drawing on her thirty plus years’ experience as a practicing attorney, Ann advises clients regarding potential claims and disputes. She guides trustees, executors, and other fiduciaries who are dealing with difficult situations, such as murky trust documents and wills and challenging beneficiaries. She helps clients understand their duties and complete the administration process, seeking judicial rulings as necessary. Ann also represents beneficiaries, including individuals and charities, who seek or need assistance in protecting their rightful shares of trust and probate assets.
Kristen Fisher, Associate, is an experienced litigator who represents clients in contested trust and estate matters under the Trust and Dispute Resolution Act (TEDRA), Vulnerable Adult Protection proceedings and Title 11 guardianship proceedings, from intake to final resolution, including appeal. She also represents and counsels fiduciaries in probate and trust administration matters.
Kristen understands that many of her clients are going through the difficult experience of losing a loved one and counsels her clients with compassion but also offers practical advice aimed at the resolution of disputes. She has a track record of successfully achieving resolution of contested cases through mediation but also is known to be a tough litigator who does not hesitate to take on complex and challenging issues.
Kiran Uppal, Of Counsel, brings deep experience helping clients articulate their wealth transfer objectives and implement plans in a manner that meets their financial, familial, and business goals in a tax-efficient manner.
Kiran advises on all aspects of estate and trust related matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and premarital agreements; modifying trusts through decantings and nonjudicial settlement agreements; analyzing estate, gift and generation skipping transfer tax planning strategies; charitable planning; and probate proceedings and estate administration.
