The presentation to Washington growers detailed the importance of calculating regular rate of pay to accurately compensate their workers for down time, rest breaks and overtime, whether they are paid hourly, by piece rate or by some hybrid method.

While mistakes may be honest mistakes, miscalculating worker wages in the age of mandatory rest break pay, down time pay and overtime pay may result in costly fines or potential litigation.
