The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) has named Karolyn Hicks a Fellow in its Fall entry class for 2017. ACTEC is an organization of peer-elected lawyers and law professors who are skilled and experienced in the field of trusts and estates. To qualify for membership, a lawyer must have at least 10 years' experience in the active practice of probate and trust law or estate planning. Lawyers and law professors are elected to be Fellows based on their outstanding reputation, exceptional skill, and substantial contributions to the field by lecturing, writing, teaching, and participating in bar leadership or legislative activities.

Karolyn enjoys trust and estate law because it is complex and intellectually engaging, and it involves helping people with real-life issues. As a litigator, she works to help clients advance their legal positions and resolve disputes that may arise.

She is the fifth Stokes Lawrence attorney to receive this distinction. Earlier this year, Katie Groblewski was named a Fellow. Doug Lawrence, George Velikanje and RoseMary Reed are also members. Stokes Lawrence is one of only two law firms in Washington state with five Fellows in its Estate Planning practice.
