For the second consecutive year, online legal newsletter Law360 has recognized Stokes Lawrence as one of the country’s Best Law Firms for Women (subscription required to view link). The firm tied for seventh place among law firms with 20-149 lawyers, and ranked third in the “Ceiling Smashers Report,” which recognizes firms with the highest percentage of female equity partners. Stokes Lawrence is the only Northwest firm to be recognized in its category. The firm also has a higher percentage of women partners than any firm in Washington, and the third highest among all firms recognized on this year’s list.

To be ranked, firms needed to rank above average in select categories, including total female attorneys, female nonpartners and total female partners. According to Law360, on average women make up around one-third of the attorneys in private legal practice and approximately 19% of equity owners. At Stokes Lawrence, women make up 46% of our total attorneys, 50% of our nonowners and 43% of our owners.

“We are honored to be recognized for our gender diversity. We have a strong tradition of supporting and developing women leaders since the firm’s founding 36 years ago,” noted Managing Shareholder Kelly Twiss Noonan. “We believe our culture of fairness, respect and opportunity reflect the firm’s values and play a key role in hiring and retaining outstanding lawyers—both men and women.”
