Stokes Lawrence Recognized as Corporate Champion

The Puget Sound Business Journal profiled Stokes Lawrence as one of the publication’s 2016 Healthy Community Corporate Champion Award winners. The firm received the award in the Basic Needs category.

Stokes Lawrence was recognized for more than 1,300 hours firm employees donated in pro bono services, as well as the cash contributions lawyers and staff made to local charities. The article also highlighted the firm’s commitment to aiding organizations that provide legal services to low-income individuals and families. Seventy percent of King County low-income households experience at least one legal issues per year. Three-fourths of those households either cannot afford a lawyer or do not know how to find one. To help fill that need, Stokes Lawrence supports organizations such as the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, the Union Gospel Mission’s Open Door Legal Services Clinic, King County neighborhood legal clinics, Yakima Volunteer Legal Services, the Federal District Court’s Pro Se Civil Rights Panel, the ACLU, and Legal Voice.

“We feel very strongly that it’s important for us, especially as lawyers, to be donating to organizations that provide that legal safety net,” noted Managing Shareholder Kelly Twiss Noonan in the article.
