Stokes Lawrence Attorneys Help Pass New Legislation to Update Washington's Trust Laws

Doug Lawrence and Katie Groblewski worked together with other Seattle estate planning attorneys earlier this year to pass legislation that updated Washington’s trust laws. The updates include a wide-scale integration of the Uniform Trust Code into existing Washington trust laws. To compliment her legislative work, Katie Groblewski has co-authored an article with Karen E. Boxx, which will be published in hard copy with the Washington Law Review this November. The article discusses in-depth three major areas of Washington’s trust laws that were updated in 2011 and revised further in 2013, by comparing the new laws to prior Washington law and the Uniform Trust Code. In addition, the article discusses how and where other provisions of Washington’s updated trust laws integrate the Uniform Trust Code.
