Stokes Lawrence was founded in 1981 as Monroe & Perry, a business law firm. In 1985, one of our founders, Wayne Perry, left to become president of McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc. Our long relationship with McCaw, its successors, and other telecommunications and media clients resulted in a depth of knowledge and experience in technology, telecommunications and wireless.
Today, our focus continues to be representing business clients and the individuals and families who run those companies. Over the years, we have added additional areas of expertise to better serve our clients.
Expansion to Eastern Washington. In 2007, George Velikanje, Morrie Shore, John Moore and Brendan Monahan joined our firm, opening a new office in Yakima. They added a combined 150 years of experience advising Eastern Washington’s commercial and agri-businesses and the individuals and families who run those companies.
Stokes Lawrence Today. We’ve grown over the years by attracting top law students and judicial clerks, as well as highly regarded practicing attorneys from larger Seattle law firms. We’re proud that more than half of our attorneys, along with our managing shareholder, are women.
Our respect for people—clients and employees alike—and the lasting relationships between them, distinguish Stokes Lawrence from other law firms. We provide smart, practical, tailored assistance to our clients without the bureaucracy and unnecessary formality of “big corporate” firms.
