Frederick T. Rasmussen

PRACTICE EMPHASIS:

Rick is a shareholder and has focused his practice on labor and employment law for 25 years.  He represents national and Northwest companies in a wide range of labor and employment matters, including labor disputes and employment litigation.  Rick devotes a significant portion of his practice to the mediation of employment matters and serves as a permanent arbitrator under the Boeing Company SPEEA Agreement.

ACTIVITIES:

Rick is a member of the panel of mediators of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington (1982-present).  He is past chair of the King County Bar Association’s Labor Law Section and past chair of the Pacific Coast Labor Conference.

EDUCATION:

Rick obtained his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1974, where he received the Order of the Coif and was editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Law Review (1974).  He received his B.A. in History from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1965.

ADMISSIONS:

Rick is admitted to the Washington State Bar (1974), the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS:

Rick is a frequent speaker on employment and labor relations issues and the mediation process.

Recent presentations have included effective advocacy in mediation for the Office of the Attorney General and U.S. Department of Justice, advocacy in arbitration for the American Arbitration Association, and mediation of sexual harassment cases for WSBA.
